MeCAHT is an international faith-based, media-driven coalition working to reduce the incidences of human trafficking among vulnerable groups in South Afrika, Nigeria and Europe.

MeCAHT runs a Safehouse in Abuja which provides a residential aftercare program for survivors of sex trafficking. The goal is to rehabilitate and empower the restored victims with practical and life skills to enable them to reintegrate into society.

Human Trafficking is: “…the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by the use of threat, force, coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power, taking advantage of vulnerability, and involves receiving of payments or benefits for the purpose of exploitation…”
(palermo protocol)

Nigeria is the largest single source of trafficked women to Europe and the Middle East of Africa. German authorities state that about 80% of all illegal African prostitutes in Europe come from Nigeria.

The Berger Ladies have helped the Safehouse with payments towards the rent as well as with some additions to the equipment. This enabled the Safehouse earlier this year to buy an generator.
